12 West Brewing Company in Mesa, AZ

"What started as a kitchen homebrew experiment a decade ago fermented into a full-blown obsession."

12 West Brewing Company is one of our favorite places to visit to enjoy an afternoon with friends and family. Their taprooms are in two locations and the one on 12 West Main Street is just a short walk from W2ND Historic Inn.

The brewing company was opened in November 2016 by Bryan McCormick and Noel Garcia. Their 10-barrel system production facility is located in Agriptopia's Barnone community in nearby Gilbert. Barnone Craftsman Community sports a number of restaurants for you to enjoy a nice meal with your beer. You will also find experimental winemakers as well as skilled craftsmen at the site.

Taproom in Mesa

You can choose from 12 taps of fresh beer. If unsure which would suit your taste buds, have a flight and get 5oz pours of your choice or have the bartender make the choice for you. You can also take beer home from their latest Can & Bottle Release such as the Hoppy Lager called Normal Jeanes of 5.2% ABV or the Ethereal, a Citra Hopped Hazy Pale Ale at 5.8% ABV.

The kitchen offers unique dishes made from scratch, making your visit to this taproom even more special. You'll be able to choose from a selection of fresh salads, tacos, starters or shareables, full-on sandwiches, and more. You can also have a flatbread or a desert.
The brunch menu is served on Sat and Sun between 11 AM and 3 PM and offers a choice of 6 meals. The happy hour is between 3 PM and 6 PM and all day on Sundays.

Cuvee Verdad Sour Project

This new project focuses on a wide variety of mixed fermentation sour ales. One of them currently being on offer is the Alma ale, an easy-drinking sour of 4.4%, made with yeast strains like Brett Claussenii, Brett Lambicus, Brett Bruxellensis, Lactobacillus Brevis, and Lactobacillus Plantarum.

A stronger version of 6.5% is called Josephine. It is soured with Lactobacillus Plantarum and fermented in French Sherry puncheons. Both are served in 750 ml bomber bottles for $13 and are not available for flights.

You will also enjoy their signature cocktails, like The Butterfly Effect or Bombucha, some classic cocktails like Martini or Boulevardier, and for those looking for a more subtle choice, 12 West Brewery's wine list offers a selection of varied wines, such as the Dark Horse Cabernet or Cavit Pinot Grigio.

Love this place because of the beers but also the unique location. It's located in a metal structure with other crafts where you can walk around and see and but their wares. The bartender, Jake, was friendly and responsive and made the visit enjoyable.
